Bring Change to Mind x Asian American and Pacific Islander (BC2M-AAPI) Program

Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) high school students often face unique stressors such as academic pressure, intergenerational conflict, and cultural stigma surrounding mental health. These challenges can discourage open conversations about well-being and prevent students from seeking support.

The BC2M-AAPI Program (Bring Change to Mind – Asian American & Pacific Islander) adapts a national student-led club model to meet the needs of AAPI youth in high schools. Through 9 weekly sessions and a campus-wide event, BC2M-AAPI empowers students to:

  • Build mental health literacy and reduce stigma
  • Strengthen coping skills and peer support
  • Improve communication with families
  • Enhance self-efficacy in seeking help
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive school environment

The BC2M-AAPI Program was awarded the Children’s Mental Health Innovation Awards by The Morgan Stanley Alliance for Children’s Mental Health in 2025.

Over the past two years, the BC2M-AAPI program has been implemented in two New York City public high schools, where it demonstrated strong cultural relevance, high student engagement, and positive perceived impact in reducing stigma and improving self-efficacy, family communication, and intentions to seek help. With new funding from the Morgan Stanley Alliance for Children’s Mental Health, the program is now expanding to four more high schools across New York City and California, extending our impact on youth mental health.

Students also have access to a secure online portal with culturally relevant resources, activities, and materials.

Interest in Collaboration

We are actively seeking schools interested in bringing the BC2M-AAPI program to their students. If you’d like to collaborate or explore participation for next year, we’d love to connect.
